Provincial House in 1998

Early Stages of Fire

Fire rages through the upper floor of the Provincial House at LaSalette Shrine in the early stages of the blaze the morning of November 5. The fire began at about 4 AM in a third floor room. Sun Chronicle Staff Photo by Mark Stockwell.

Crane

Tuesday. A trailer-load of plastic deer for the LaSalette Shrine Christmas display is moved past the shell of the Provincial House Monday. The structure was destroyed in a fire Friday that took the life of a visiting English priest.

On Friday, November 12, the following pictures were taken by NCVNVM Administrative Assistant Debbi McCallops and scanned onto disk by her daughter.

The wing of the Provincial House in which the NCVNVM offices were located. Note that while the upper floors were completely destroyed, the lower floors were less so

The NCVNVM offices were behind the windows on the second floor. When the fire was out and an inspection made, it was discovered that the fire had not actually reached the NCVNVM office, and some documents are being salvaged. All equipment, however, was destroyed by heat and extensive water damage.
